Built for the freezer aisle, not adapted to it
Condensation, sub-zero starts and continuous shift use punish equipment that was not specified for the environment. Sealed electricals and cold-rated components are the starting point, not an add-on.
Scenario challenges
What makes a freezer different
Three conditions in sub-zero storage shape every specification decision on this page.
Cold cuts battery output
Sub-zero rooms reduce available battery capacity exactly when throughput peaks. The EP30 answers this with LiFePO4 chemistry and battery thermal management, holding output through the shift.
No window for a full charge
Continuous cold-chain shifts leave no eight-hour pause for charging. Opportunity charging in 2 h to 80% lets the truck top up between door cycles and break times.
Diesel exhaust is ruled out
Enclosed food-storage areas cannot tolerate exhaust or fuel storage, so the fleet runs electric from dock to freezer aisle — walkie equipment at the dock, counterbalance trucks inside.
Selection logic
How to spec a cold-storage fleet
Four decision factors, in the order we work through them with buyers.
| Decision factor | What changes in a freezer | How this solution is specified |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | Heaviest pallet plus load center still sets the floor for truck size; door and aisle dimensions cap the ceiling. | EP30 rated 3,000 kg @ 500 mm load center; ST15 handles palletized loads up to 1,500 kg at the dock. |
| Battery & charging | Cold reduces usable capacity, and a full-charge pause does not exist in continuous operations. | 80 V LiFePO4 with thermal management; 0–80% in 2 h supports opportunity charging during breaks and door cycles. |
| Tires | Condensation and ice at door zones reduce grip compared with dry warehouse floors. | Tire compound and pattern are matched to floor condition per site — confirm dock-to-freezer surfaces in the RFQ. |
| Mast | Rack height in freezer rooms is often higher than ambient warehousing to offset insulation cost. | EP30 lifts 3,000 mm as standard with options to 6,000 mm; ST20 straddle stacker reaches 5,300 mm where counterbalance access is limited. |
Recommended models
The two-truck core of a cold-storage fleet
Counterbalance for racking aisles, walkie pallet truck for docks and staging — one battery platform, one parts list.

Attachments
Positioning precision in tight freezer aisles
Every meter of maneuvering in an aisle costs refrigeration energy. A side shifter removes most of it.
AT-SS201 — Hydraulic Side Shifter, 2.5 t
Lateral correction of ±100 mm without repositioning the truck: fewer approach maneuvers in narrow aisles, faster pallet placement at height, less rack contact.
Full AT line on the Products page
The AT series also covers rotating clamps for paper and textile rolls and other handling duties outside the freezer. The full attachments and parts line is listed under Products.
Certification notes
What is certified, and on which units
Stated exactly as the certificates read — no coverage beyond it.
CE
Conformity with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, covering all machines and attachments in this solution.
TÜV Rheinland
Certified lithium battery system on the EP series — including the EP30 specified here. ST and AT units carry CE.
ISO 9001:2015
Factory-level quality management system under which every unit is 100% load-tested before shipment.
