How to choose a forklift attachment
Three checks before specifying any attachment, in the order we work through them with buyers.
| Check | Why it matters | How to confirm it |
|---|---|---|
| Residual capacity | An attachment is not free weight — it subtracts from the host truck’s rated load and shifts the load center forward. | Request the combined truck + attachment residual capacity chart from your supplier before ordering, not after. |
| Carriage class | Attachments mount to an ISO carriage class (commonly class II or III); mismatched class means the attachment will not fit the truck. | Confirm your host forklift’s carriage class against the attachment’s fork class chart. |
| Hydraulic compatibility | Rotators and clamps need auxiliary hydraulic valves and hose runs the base truck may not have fitted. | Specify auxiliary hydraulics, hoses and couplers at the time you order the truck — retrofitting later costs more. |
Attachment rated loads are independent of the host forklift capacity. Always confirm the combined configuration in your RFQ.
